"These chaps were one of
Dublin/Ireland's finest noisy bands from the 90's, After splitting up in
the latter stages of the decade, most of the various members went on to
play in various other bands - A Lazarus Soul, Crumb, while vocalist Pat
Clafferty released a well-received solo album in 2005."

 DODGE THE WRECKING BALL AT MOTHER REDCAPS
I know some of you are tired of hearing that Mother Redcaps, Christchurch is about to close and be demolished. Well the day of reckoning has arrived. The duras will be firmly ferme'd after the last pint is swerved on Tuesday night the 5th July. It is so sad to see this historic building dating from 1760 getting demolished and with it a piece of Dublin gone forever.
To lament the passing of this great Dublin venue a POPFEST will take place in:
- Mother Redcaps Tavern, Christchurch
- Sunday 26th June
- In no particular order Richer Than Astronauts,
Crumb, House Of Mexico, Groom, Ruby Taillights & Melba & Thomas Dunning on DJ duties.
- Admission is 7 euro
- First band 7.30PM

March 10 2005 Wednesday 20th April - Crumb album launch Also on the line up are MEDEA and Ruby Taillights. The Hub, Temple Bar from 9.00pm Admission is 10 euros with a free CD.

March 9 2005 Pat Clafferty And The Recorders (a six piece band which includes guitars, cello, violin, piano) & Crumb play The Hub, Dublin on March 31 2005.

June 2004 New Pat Clafferty solo album: "A Prayer For St. Jude" which includes the track "Don't Like Butterfiles".

April 7 1998 Look on the bright side ... Pat Clafferty has a new band called Reno Five who are playing their first gig this weekend.
Well two of the guys who used to in Tension are now in the Reno 5. Pat played with them a few years ago under the name Wheel.

October 1997 A Mexican Pets song features on the Original Soundtrack to the Irish film, "I Went Down', on Ocean Deep Records. Other contributors include Lir.

July 24 1997 Mexican Pets statement: "Hope you're busy enjoying your copy of the "Humbucker" album. To help you on with your enjoyment, the latest news on the band is that they don't exist anymore! Shit happens, eh..."
"...no, nothing to do with musical differences, or one of the band sleeping with one of the other's rabbits; they just decided to part company and do other things. We understand that at this very moment singer and guitarist Pat has already finished 12 tracks of demos for a new project."

June 27 1997 The band have split up. :-(

June 15 1997 The band are recording 'Sunnyday' and 'If Only Never' for a new TV programme to be presented by Mike Edgar which will hopefully be broadcast at the end of June.

April 7 1997 Mexican Pets release their debut album, "Humbucker", on CD only. 'Humbucker' is the name of a guitar pickup. Les Pauls and Gibsons have them. It seemed to describe the type of music Mexican Pets do.

February 3 1997 Mexican Pets release their fifth single, 'Supermarket', on CD only. It's chosen as Single Of The Week in Kerrang! magazine.

January 19 1997 Mexican Pets play support to Pavement at The Red Box in Dublin.

November 1996 Mexican Pets contribute 'Sunnyday' to a 22 band compilation CD called 'Zip Up Your Boots For The Showbands', on Knee Jerk Records. Other contributors include Pet Lamb, Jubilee Allstars and Luggage.

July 1996 Mexican Pets release a compilation CD of their first four 7" singles called 'The Voice Of Trucker Youth'.

February 26 1996 Mexican Pets re-release their debut EP, "Nobody's Working Title", in UK and Europe.

November 20 1995 Mexican Pets release their fourth single, 'Mackerel Sky High', on vinyl and CD.

October 1995 Mexican Pets contribute 'Stigmata Errata' to a 2 X 7" compilation called 'Mortal Wombat', on Fierce Panda Records. Other contributors include Babybird and Super Furry Animals.

October 2 1995 Mexican Pets release their third single, 'Diana The Moon', again on vinyl only.

April 18 1995 Mexican Pets release their second single, 'How To Have More Fun', again on vinyl only.

March 6 1995 Mexican Pets release their debut single on vinyl only, 'Subside'.

November 1994 Mexican Pets release their debut EP, "Nobody's Working Title", in Ireland only.
