December 8 2003
For The Kids is a very special charity event for the 'Children’s Leukemia Fund' based at the Crumlin Children’s Hospital in Dublin. All proceeds will go directly to this charity.

It will take place at Whelans, Dublin on Friday, December 26 from 8.30pm until the wee hours.

The event will be headlined by Glen Hansard of The Frames and will feature performances from Paddy Casey, Goodtime John, Ann Scott, Declan O’Rourke and Angus Devine as well several very special guests. The show will be hosted by acclaimed comedian David O’Doherty.

Anyone who reads newspapers or watches the news will know this is a very pertinent cause at this moment in time. The 'Children’s Leukemia Fund' is in serious need of further resources to provide the required treatment to those children suffering from the illness.

Tickets for this event are 20 euro (no booking fee required) and are available exclusively from Road Records (Fade Street, off George’s Street, Dublin). Tickets can only be purchased on a strict cash basis (no credit card payment or bookings).

Not only is this a hugely important benefit, it looks set to be the party of the year. Be warned: tickets will go fast.  More info..

IMRO.ie "The Frames have just started the final leg of their mammoth international touring schedule. They finally return to Ireland to finish off the year in style having spent the last few months touring the U.S. and Australia. This bout of homeland touring takes them all the way through to a climactic New Year’s Eve show in Dublin’s Olympia Theatre (directly after an all-ages show in the same venue) by way of Ennis, Galway, Cork, Limerick, Killarney, Belfast, Derry.

The Frames will also feature as one of two Irish representative at 2004’s Eurosonic Seminar in Groningen, Holland in January. Thanks to 2FM it will be possible to experience a flavour of the event via a special 3 hour programme on 8th January that they will be broadcasting including live songs from the band’s show on the night."

Island Arts Centre: "The Frames, one of Ireland’s best loved bands, shot to huge cult status and commercial success in the past couple of years, their incendiary live shows being central to their popularity. The Frames mixed their Celtic soul with the crashing guitars of American acts like The Pixes, thus signalling the birth of a new homegrown era. Despite excellent albums like ‘Fitzcarraldo’ (1996) and ‘Dance The Devil’ (1999), The Frames had a frustrating time with their UK record label. Eventually they set up their own imprint and launched ‘For The Birds’ (2001). This record was massively successful at home, while the likes of Bruce Springsteen and Brian Eno have shown interest abroad. The recent release of the live album ‘Set List’ has cemented their position at the forefront of contemporary Irish Rock. It entered the Irish chart at number 1 in May."
